Recognizing Our Pest Control Professionals This April During National Pest Management Month

National Pest Management Month is observed every April to highlight our amazing pest control professionals and the work they do to keep our homes and public spaces free of pests. Originally started in 1975, the month also works to spread awareness of the various pests that pose a risk to our well-being and the preventative measures we can take against them.

April marks the beginning of spring in many parts of the United States, which means the emergence of pests such as mosquitoes, ticks, flies, ants, and rodents that have been dormant during the winter. The National Pest Management Association recommends you take the following precautions to prepare your home for peak pest season:

  • Prevent termites by installing downspouts, gutters and splash blocks to divert water away from the foundation. Be sure to also eliminate mulch or wood contact with the exterior of the structure.
  • Prevent mosquitoes by removing sources of moisture around the property, as this pest only needs half an inch of water to reproduce.
  • Prevent flies by regularly removing garbage and using well-sealed receptacles to help deter this pest from coming indoors.
  • Prevent rodents by sealing any cracks throughout your property with an appropriate sealant.
  • Prevent cockroaches by practicing proper sanitation. Avoid letting dishes pile up in the kitchen and be sure to wipe down counters to keep them free of food debris.

The best way to celebrate National Pest Management Month is to contact your local Pestmaster professional to fully prepare your home for the months ahead. Although there are plenty of ways to try and prevent pests from bothering you this season, you may still encounter an infestation or be in search of more in-depth preventative measures.

Pestmaster offers customizable pest control plans, environmentally conscious solutions, and our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach that targets pests where they hide and fully eradicates them. IPM techniques allow us to take into consideration all the factors of a pest infestation so that we can deliver long-lasting solutions. Since these factors vary from one property to the next, we conduct a thorough inspection of your property and speak with you about your problems before diagnosing and treating the infestation.
